OUR STORY & VISION

History

In 1976 a Bible study began in the Port Washington area with the desire to start a Bible-teaching church. Open Door Bible Church's first service was held on January 2, 1977. Pastor Sid Litke came in 1984.

The church originally met in rented facilities in Port Washington. In 1985 a former liquor store at the present location was purchased and renovated. The first service at this location was held on Easter Sunday 1986. In 1987 God directed us to plant Grace Bible Church in Adell as an outgrowth of our ministry. We began expanding the former liquor store In 1991, and services started in the present auditorium in March 1994. Later developments included additional offices, educational space, purchasing additional land and renovating nurseries and restrooms. Pastor Jim Engelman joined the staff In 1999, and Pastor Seth Meeks became our first youth pastor in 2005. Pastor Nate Meeks took over as pastor of youth and family ministry in 2016.

But our real story is the people who have come to know Christ as Savior and continue their spiritual growth here. We are excited about those God leads to us and would be pleased to have you as part of the church family. If God leads you to worship with us, we look forward to your part in the ongoing story of God's faithfulness here.

Vision

Our vision for the future is to continue to reach people in nearby communities with the good news of Jesus Christ, help them grow spiritually and equip them to serve others as God leads them. To accommodate the growth God gives us, we are in the planning stages of a new fellowship hall and adult education center. This page will soon include plans and drawing of that facility. When completed, this will allow us to develop our present lower level space into additional children’s and youth space.

Affiliation

Open Door Bible Church is non-denominational, but we belong to the IFCA International, an organization of churches, individuals and organizations that share biblical beliefs and goals.
