FAQ

A few of the basics about Open Door Bible Church

Where are you located?

Open Door Bible Church is located at 3420 Highway LL, Port Washington, WI.

What about parking?

If you are new, please feel free to park in one of the guest parking spots near the front door. We also have additional parking in the back and a rear lobby entrance.

What should I wear?

Relax. If you feel comfortable with what you are wearing, so do we. We care more about hearts than clothes. Most are dressed casually, but others like business casual or ties and dresses. Packer gear is common, but if you wear Bears or Vikings apparel, we still love you!

NURSERY CARE - It is really up to you what you do as a family. We value families worshiping together so we welcome all ages into the auditorium for the service if they can do so with minimal distractions. Our nursery is available on Sundays for infants through 2 years old during the 8 and 11 am services and the 9:30 am education hour (sorry, no childcare on Saturday evening). The nursery is located to the side of the main lobby. There is a check-in for nursery-aged children, and parents receive a pager in case they are needed. (more info)

CHILDREN'S CHURCH - If you worship with us at the 11 am Sunday service, children ages 3-6 are dismissed after the worship music and just before the Bible message to our lower level. We have a program of learning and activities appropriate for their age levels. Parents need to accompany them there (and sign them in if they are new) before returning to the service. (more info)

SUNDAY SCHOOL - We have Sunday School with age appropriate Bible teaching and activities for all ages from 2 years old through High School students. The welcome center personnel can help you find your child’s classroom.  We also have adult classes during the education hour (more info).

What time should I arrive?

WORSHIP SERVICES - Our three identical worship services are held at 5:30 pm on Saturday and 8 and 11 am on Sunday. We recommend getting to church a few minutes before the service starts. We would like to meet you to answer any questions at the Welcome Center, which you will see in the main lobby.

EDUCATION - Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowships take place during the 9:30 education hour. (more info)

What can I expect Sunday morning?

WORSHIP SERVICE - We meet on Sunday morning to sing praises to God and to learn from the Bible, God’s word. Our services last about an hour and 15 minutes. Typically, the first half hour is a combination of worship music, prayer and practical study of the Bible - a talk delivered by one of the pastors on staff (usually Pastor Sid). Bibles are provided throughout the auditorium or bring your own. During the service on the first Sunday of each month we celebrate the Lord’s Supper. You are welcome to participate or just observe. Our financial offerings are received on Sundays in boxes at the back of the worship center. Financial giving is designed for those who regularly attend the church (please don’t feel obligated).

ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIPS - In addition to the classes for children and youth (Kid’s Build above), we currently offer a choice of four Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF’s). You can visit one of these any time. Our ABF’s help adults get to know each other, encourage and serve each other. Each class includes fellowship time (coffee/snacks available at the kitchen serving window), prayer time and a discussion-style Bible study. ABFs meet during the 9:30 education hour. Feel free to visit any or all of the ABF groups to see which one might best suit you.
