A few of the basics about Open Door Bible Church
WORSHIP SERVICES - Our three identical worship services are held at 8, 9:30 and 11 am on Sunday. We recommend getting to church a few minutes before the service starts. We would like to meet you to answer any questions at the Welcome Center, which you will see in the main lobby.
EDUCATION - Sunday School and Adult Bible Fellowships take place during the 9:30 education hour. (more info)
Open Door Bible Church is located at 3420 Highway LL, Port Washington, WI.
If you are new, please feel free to park in one of the guest parking spots near the front door. We also have additional parking in the back and a rear lobby entrance.
Relax. If you feel comfortable with what you are wearing, so do we. We care more about hearts than clothes. Most are dressed casually, but others like business casual or ties and dresses. Packer gear is common, but if you wear Bears or Vikings apparel, we still love you!
NURSERY CARE - It is really up to you what you do as a family. We value families worshiping together so we welcome all ages into the auditorium for the service if they can do so with minimal distractions. Our nursery is available on Sundays for infants through 2 years old during all three services. The nursery is located to the side of the main lobby. There is a check-in for nursery-aged children, and parents receive a pager in case they are needed. (more info)
CHILDREN'S CHURCH - If you worship with us at the 11 am Sunday service, children ages 3-6 are dismissed after the worship music and just before the Bible message to our lower level. We have a program of learning and activities appropriate for their age levels. Parents need to accompany them there (and sign them in if they are new) before returning to the service. (more info)
KID'S BUILD (SUNDAY SCHOOL) - We have age-appropriate Bible teaching and activities for all ages from 3 years old through High School students. The welcome center personnel can help you find your child’s classroom. We also have adult classes during this education hour (more info). These classes all meet during the 9:30 – 10:40 hour.
WORSHIP SERVICE - Our services last about an hour and 15 minutes. They include music by a worship band that typically includes guitar, drums, keyboard, bass guitar and several vocalists. Our worship style is largely contemporary, but also blends in some timeless hymns that effectively express biblical faith. A central part of each service is devoted to a Bible message. We are committed to teaching the Bible expositionally. That means we generally study through various books of the Bible letting God’s word speak for itself and then applying God’s truth and principles in practical ways. We believe financial giving is really an act of worship expressing our appreciation for God's gift of eternal life. There is no obligation or expectation to give - especially for our guests.
ADULT BIBLE FELLOWSHIPS - In addition to the classes for children and youth (Kid’s Build above), we currently offer a choice of four Adult Bible Fellowships (ABF’s). You can visit one of these any time. Our ABF’s help adults get to know each other, encourage and serve each other. Each class includes fellowship time (coffee/snacks available at the kitchen serving window), prayer time and a discussion-style Bible study. ABFs meet during the 9:30 education hour. Feel free to visit any or all of the ABF groups to see which one might best suit you.
